A Bit Of Versailles On The Bowery
Candle lovers no longer have to make the pilgrimage to Cire Trudon’s century-old Left Bank shop. The company’s owner, Ramdane Touhami, has opened its first U.S. outpost below the Rogan store on the corner of Bond Street and Bowery. Stepping into the ground-floor space, though, you’d swear you were in France. Complete with handmade mirrors, stucco moldings, and antiques that are for sale, the store has been modeled after Versailles’ Galerie des Glaces, which is fitting considering it was Cire Trudon tapers that lit Marie Antoinette’s last hours. In addition to the familiar candles, there are new room sprays and perfumed stink bombs—just the thing for scenting a garden party or, maybe, a particularly smelly 6 train platform. A second Paris boutique is in the works in the precise location of the original Cire Trudon shop dating to 1643 on rue de l’Arbre Sec. A London store will likely follow.

Marine Center – Bali
Great looking spot, plus it serves a good purpose.
Solus4 entered their concept into a design competition in Indonesia, where they stated that the marine research center (housed 150m from the popular Kuta beach) would focus on tsunamis—specifically, getting an earlier head’s up on them, in wake of the 2004 disaster.
Not only would the research center have laboratories for working in, but it’d also contain bedrooms for the workers and even a seawater pool. You have to wonder why they’d need a pool with all that glorious water surrounding the vessel, but I do like the sound of the proposed aquatic garden library, too. Only if I could keep one of Ringo’s octopi in the garden, in the shade, of course.

Manolo’s New Shoes
Manolo Blahník’s name is synonymous with beautifully crafted shoes that radiate originality, style, and exuberance. For four decades his unique vision has held the fashion world spellbound, and his creations have become perpetual objects of desire. His design process always begins with colorful sketches as finely executed as the shoes themselves, and which have become equally sought-after by his fans.
Here, more than 130 of Blahník’s witty, seductive drawings are collected into one inspiring volume. Manolo’s New Shoes is organized thematically to express his current inspirations and passions—Africa, architecture, botany, Russia, and urban life. An introduction by Manolo Blahník himself is accompanied by contributions from some of the most prominent names in fashion: Suzy Menkes, head fashion reporter and editor for the International Herald Tribune; Grace Coddington, creative director at Vogue; three-time Oscar-award winning costume designer Milena Canonero; Amy Fine Collins, a special correspondent to Vanity Fair; and Carlos García Calvo, who writes for El Mundo.
A book for everyone who has admired Blahník’s work, whether from afar through a store’s plate-glass window or up-close in her own closet, Manolo’s New Shoes provides a fascinating glimpse into the creative mind of today’s best-known shoe designer. As André Leon Talley, the editor-at-large at Vogue, has said about the designer, “He captures the most powerful of emotions: desire.” Visit Amazon.com to purchase Manolo’s New Shoes now

Statement Necklaces by Elva Fields
Designer Elva Wheat Maynard creates one of kind necklaces and earrings for her Elva Fields Jewelry line that are visually captivating. While I love all of her pieces, my heart lies in her gorgeous statement necklaces. They are stunning! I've been a long time fan of Elva's work and if I could, I would buy as many of her necklaces as possible and become an avid collector. Unfortunately, before I get the opportunity to purchase, the ones I like are already sold out! Luckily, her Savor Sunrise Necklace ($118), shown above, is still available for purchase and on sale. Upon first glance, the Savor Sunrise seems fitting for the Summer, but it's coral tones and deep yellow hue would beautifully compliment beiges and browns for the Fall.
Elva Fields offers three different collections - Elva (one of a kind), June (limited editions) and Deb(vintage). As you can see, her necklaces are large, bold, and chunky pieces that exude a feminine and sophisticated feel. Each one has such character that I find myself creating outfits based on the necklace itself. I'm sure many people would say starting with you accessories to create a look is crazy, but I say create your look from what has inspired you. Have fun with it. Being an accessories junkie myself, a large majority of my outfits are based on my handbags, jewelry and shoes. Take a look below for a collection of colorful pieces to inspire your next outfit.Megabucks Rothko, Warhol & Bacon Head Sotheby's Sale
A $30 million Mark Rothko, $25 million Andy Warhol, $18 million Roy Lichtenstein and $10 millionFrancis Bacon will headline Sotheby's stunning Contemporary Art sale in New York on Nov. 9. Though the least expensive of the top four lots the Bacon, 1985's Figure in Movement (above), is our favorite among the offerings. Bacon gave the painting to his personal physician, Dr. Paul Brass, and the sale marks it's historic first appearance to market. It featured prominently in the 2008 landmarkexhibition Francis Bacon: A Centenary Retrospective at Tate Britain which traveled to theMetropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The Rothko, 1955's Untitled, is one of the artist's most monumental works measuring over 7.5 ft. high. Warhol's contribution is 1962's Coca-Cola, not particularly compelling but guaranteed to ride the wave of high prices realized for his work. The Lichtenstein, Ice Cream Soda, is also dated 1962 and has been in a private collection since it was originally purchased that same year.
